POWER GENERATION FROM TRAIN TRACK[ ]


An idea to produce electricity from train track, the project is proceeded with the help of Rack and Pinion mechanism. The rotational force from Rack and Pinion mechanism is propagated into the chain drive and through the generator.Whenever the train is allowed to pass over the train track with beam setup, it gets pressed downwards. As the helical springs are attached to the setup, they get compressed and the rack, which is attached to the bottom of the setup, moves down in reciprocating motion. Since rack has teeth connected to pinion there is conversion of reciprocating motion of rack in to rotary motion of pinion, but the two gears rotate in opposite direction. So that shafts will rotate with certain RPM these shafts are connected to a sprocket and chain arrangement, which converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy.The chain arrangement with small sprocket at the end is coupled with the 12v dc dynamo. Finally the power produced from the dynamo is sent to the LED light.

BIOMASS GASIFICATION DEVELOPMENT BY USING DOWNDRAFT GASIFIER[ ]


Gasification is a thermo-chemical process which converts solid biomass into combustible gases that can be used in various applications. In this paper, a downdraft gasifierBiomass is replacing coals in energy production. With much more concern to the environmental impact, the use of fossil fuels has been greatly limited. Moreover, energy can be recovered from residues and wastes. Biomass, as part of the renewable energy, Wood, coconutshell,arecanut leaf chip and other forms of biomass represent some of the main renewable solid energy sources available and provide the only source of liquid, gaseous and solid fuels.Thermo-chemical conversion was considered the most promising way for a high efficiency conversion of the biomass, transforming the biomass into solid, liquid and gaseous energy products under thermal conditions. According this, a few type of technology have been developed: pyrolysis, combustion, gasification, liquefaction etc.

PNEUMATIC GEAR CHANGER FOR FOUR WHEELERS[ ]


Pneumatic Gear Changer can be used in four wheelers easily because the availability of compressor is there. So we don’t need extra support. In this we used principles of Mechatronics in developing this project work. The standing mechanism is achieved by reciprocating the double acting cylinders which controlled by single solenoid operated 5/2 way Directional control valve. This is actuated through the dashboard panel in front of the driver through the buttons. The operating pressure required for this system is 5 to 6 bar. The maintenance required for this system is less than the other systems. It is used to reducing the gear shifting time without losing the break power and the efficiency is improved. The main advantages of our project are elimination of wear and tear, simple in operation, fast movement in control and less space by elimination of linkages. Our project is a gear changing device, in which gear is changed using pneumatic power so that it avoids wear and tear.

ALGAE OIL: THE POSSIBILITY OF USING AS FUEL IN CI ENGINE[ ]


In this project esterified Algae oil is used as an alternate fuel. A single cylinder stationary kirloskar engine is used to compare the performance and emission characteristics between pure diesel and Algae blends. In this project selection of suitable Algae blend and selection of optimized injection timing for the blend is done. The Algae oil blends are in percentage of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% of Algae oil to 80%, 60%, 40%, 20% & 0% of diesel.

INTERFACE BEHAVIOUR BETWEEN CONCRETE AND BFRP WRAPPED CONCRETE WITH SANDY SOILS[ ]


Shearing resistance between soil and foundation materials is major importance to make a good estimation of friction between soil and substructures. In this paper the interface strength between concrete and Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) wrapped concrete specimens with soil is studied since load transfer between soil and solids takes place at their interfaces. The interface strength is based on surface roughness of material, composition of soil, relative density of soil, grain size distribution and shape of soil particles, moisture content of soil, magnitude of normal stress and rate of shearing. Direct shear tests were conducted to examine the interface friction angle between concrete and BFRP wrapped concrete specimens with sandy soils. The tests were performed under four values of normal stress 0.05 N/mm2, 0.10 N/mm2, 0.15 N/mm2 and 0.20 N/mm2. Examining the data obtained from direct shear test, it could be seen that in general, there was a decrease in the angle of interface friction with BFRP wrapping. The experimental results show that soil gradation and surface roughness of specimens significantly changes the interface friction angle.

Most of the civil engineering structures involve some type of structural element with direct contact with ground soil. The study of the interaction between structural element (foundation) and supporting soil media is of fundamental importance to both geotechnical and structural engineers. Results of such study can be used in the analysis of stresses and deformations within the supporting soil medium.

SAFETY AND HEALTH ASSESSMENT IN FUEL STORAGE YARD RAILWAY[ ]


The study discuss about the type of hazards that oil workers are exposed. The hazards in the oil industry are fire and explosion, slip, trips and falls and confined spaces. The mentioned hazards will affect the workers occupational health production gain and legal issues. So we need to follow necessary safety measures to avoid unnecessary interrupts in industries. In nowadays awareness of employees of health and safety are minimized. They require more training about the process. In this safety assessment study by referring safety measures some new ways of safety practices for working in oil industries to achieve zero accident are recent for the current working conditions.

INSPECTION CONVEYOR SYSTEM[ ]


In our paper “INSPECTION CONVEYOR” begins with an introduction to material Inspection, it has various applications. The sensors are used to measure the material dimensions and this signal is given to control Unit. The control unit gives the appropriate signal to the pneumatic cylinder. The pneumatic cylinder is used to collecting mechanism of the improper dimension materials. The inspection conveyor is very useful for material handling in modern engineering industries.

A Simple Local Pathway Planning Algorithm for Self-directed Mobile Robots[ ]


This paper deals in screening an impression of pathway planningalgorithms for independent robots. The paper also focuses on the bug algorithm family which plays a major role in local pathway planning algorithm. Bug algorithms always use a sensors to sense the forthcoming hindrance as a mobile robot rolls towards the target with imperfect data about the surroundings. The algorithm uses obstacle margin as guidance toward its goal as the robot orbits the obstacle till it discoveries certain condition to accomplish the algorithm standards to leave the hindrance toward target point.
