A Survey on Performance Ascertainment of MANET Routing Protocols Using NS-2[ ]

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) consists ofwireless mobile nodes. The communication between these mobile nodes is carried out without any centralized control. MANET is a self-organized and self-configurable network where the mobile nodes move arbitrarily. The mobile nodes can receive and forward packets as a router. In this survey we compared the performance of four MANET routing protocols DSDV, DSR, AODV and TORA using the metrics like throughput, packet delivery ratio (PDR), delay, normalized routing load (NRL) and energy. We compared the performance of TCP agents against DSDV, DSR and AODV. The performance differences are analysed basing on varying simulation time and the number of nodes. These simulations are performed on NS-2 network simulator.

Study towards Waste Water Management - Grey water Reuse[ ]

For any living being water air, food, shelter etc. are the primary needs, for which water has the greatest importance. Pindar said “Best of all things is water”. In ancient times every individual or family was responsible to arrange for their water supplies. There were no collective efforts but with time urbanisation came into picture and thus the collective efforts for provision of water started. But this urbanisation caused a serious problem of resource exhaustion like water. Thus it is of prime importance to manage water resources in best way so that future generation could survive. Two immediate responses to counter this challenge are efficient allocation of the scarce resources, and development and use of alternative sources of water. While ‘water markets’ are seen as a means to achieve efficient allocation of the scare resources, treated wastewater and low-quality water are now considered as potential sources of water to supplement the freshwater supplies. The latter option that is use of reclaimed water as an alternative, with a successful and well planned reuse scheme can help achieve sustainability of water resources around the world. Wastewater reuse has been proven to ameliorate the pressure on the water environment and prevent water pollution. Greywater is one such type of wastewater generated from domestic activities such as laundry, dishwashing, and bathing which can be recycled on-site for uses such as landscape irrigation, flushing and constructed wetlands. The aim of this paper is to assess the role of greywater reuse in sustainable water management in urban regions. This paper also describes various approaches to recycle and reuse of greywater.

To study effect Of Different Curing Methods on the Compressive Strength of Concrete[ ]

Normal concrete was prepared with a water-cement ratio of 0.40. Cube specimens were cast for testing the compressive strength at 7 and 28 days of curing respectively using five curing methods namelycovering concrete surfaces with hessian or gunny bags, sprinkling of water, Ponding method, Membrane curing, Steam curing and Covering concrete surfaces with hessian or gunny bags, curing to cure the cube specimens until the day of testing. Test results indicates that water curing (WAC) as well as sprinkling (spraying) curing provided much better results than membrane (Plastic Sheeting) method of curing stream curing . The rate of drying was significant when the specimens were subjected to membrane (Plastic sheeting) method of curing. This thus hampered the hydration process and thus affected the compressive strength property of the hardened concrete. The overall finding of this study suggests that concrete should be cured by water curing to achieve a better compressive strength.

Eco Friendly and Sustainable Transportation[ ]

In this paper two aspects of eco-friendly transportation has been discussed. Transportation is a huge consumer of energy and resources and also a major source of environment pollution (basically air pollution). People tend to use motorized vehicle even for the short distances because of inconvenience and unsafe conditions for bicycling. This leads excessive use of fuel. Limiting the motorized transportation to a defined boundary is required to control the fuel usage and also to reduce site air and noise pollution. Green vehicles are very much energy efficient, pollution free and convenient mode for short distance travelling. But because of lack of facilities their use is not preferred. Eco-friendly transportation promotes use of such efficient vehicles by adequate provisions. Eco-friendly transportation is beneficial for the users as it keeps environment free of pollution and posses healthy living conditions. The use of green vehicle is one part of eco-friendly transportation, the other and most important aspect of sustainable transportation is the use of the waste materials such as fly ash, steel industry slag, paper industry waste in the construction of pavements, embankments of roads and rails etc. which are dangerous as far as the environmental pollution is concerned.

Effect of manhattan and Gauss-markov mobility model for MANET’s using DSR [ ]

A Mobile Ad-hoc network (MANET) is a consisting of set of wireless mobile nodes forming a self-configuring network without using any established infrastructure. The nodes are battery operated and therefore energy is a scarce resource in MANET. Many routing algorithms are proposed in literature and evaluated under different scenarios. The Performance of MANETs not only depends upon the routing mechanism but also on mobility model chosen. Mobility model is used to represent the mobility of individual node and it plays a crucial role when evaluating the performance of routing protocols. The energy being limited is crucial for MANET operations. Although both mobility and energy issues have been addressed so many times but mobility based energy consumption studies are not performed that much. The aim of this research work is to study the impact of mobility model on the energy consumption in MANET routing protocols. The energy consumption under Manhattan and Gauss-Markov mobility Model is evaluated through simulation using NS2. The well-known DSR protocol is taken as the candidate protocol for performing experiments under different scenarios.

Efficiency Comparisons of Various Ann-Based and Svm-Based Techniques for Classification Problems: A Review[ ]

Both Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) are one of the best choices for performing the classification task. These techniques are backed with ample of algorithms for regression and classification work. Still, there is a great demand to analyze the applicability of their algorithms so that more refined and appropriate techniques could be used for empirical data analysis. This work may be considered as a noble attempt to check the efficiency of few popular algorithms used by ANN and SVM and finally give a proper justification of the studied algorithms for future scholars. 1It was found that the previous research that uses SVM methods without feature selection with those SVM methods which uses feature selection based algorithm of SVR (Support Vector Regression) in terms of root mean square error and co-efficient error. K-means clustering is also confidently used by researchers for classification. 2In the study it was also observed that for calculating the variance, it is good to find the hamming distance between the binary data before clustering process. 2Moreover, by using the selection feature process, the dimension size of dataset was also reduced.
