The incessant failure in the insulation level of power transformers has necessitated a veritable approach in determining factors that impede its life expectancy and its performance efficiency. The Hot Spot Temperature (HST) which is dependent on the ambient temperature has contributed significantly in per unit insulation life of the transformer. Basically, transformers are insulated using a standard insulating oil of high dielectric strength for high voltage applications.
