OPTIMIZATION OF SYNTHESIS GAS (AUTOTHERMAL) REACTOR IN METHANOL PRODUCTION PROCESS USING NATURAL GAS AS FEED STOCK [ ]

Optimization modeling and simulation of the autothermal reactor in the methanol production process was effectively done using the quasi –Newton scheme of optimization in Aspen Hysys 2006.5. The primary variables selected for this modeling were heat flow value of the following: Steam1;steam2; coolant1; coolant2; coolant3. After running the process optimization simulation, total cost was minimized from $1365.26 to $1266.754 while the net revenue, which is the profit was maximized from $60978 to $61077.3, tallying with our optimization goal which is; maximizing reactor profit while minimizing the reactor cost.
